What is Newsprint?

What Newsprint is, who it is for, and how it differs from Google Alerts, media-monitoring platforms and ChatGPT.

Newsprint is a daily executive brief, delivered by email. Every weekday morning you get a single email covering what actually happened in your industry, what your competitors did, and what matters for your company.

The brief is built specifically for you. We read your company’s website, learn what you care about, and build a research plan around your industry, competitors, and topics. Then every morning, we search across hundreds of sources, evaluate what we find for relevance, and write up the stories that matter.

How it’s different from the alternatives

Alerts. Google Alerts and similar tools send you every mention. That turns into a firehose: more email, not less. Newsprint is the opposite. We read hundreds of articles so you don’t have to, and send you the handful that actually matter.

Monitoring platforms. Meltwater, Cision, and Muck Rack are built for a team that logs in, runs searches, and pulls reports. They give you coverage. Newsprint gives you a briefing: the reading and the selection are already done when the email arrives, and there is nothing to log into.

ChatGPT and general AI tools. You can ask a chatbot what happened in your industry, but you have to remember to ask, you have to frame the question, and you get a different answer each time. Newsprint runs on a written coverage plan built for your company, on a schedule, and every story links to the reporting it came from.

Every story names the publisher it ran in, as a link straight to the original article. Reply with “skip stories like this” and we’ll change your coverage plan so the next brief follows.

Who it’s for

The person who would otherwise assemble the morning view of the outside world by hand. At a lean, high-stakes company that is usually the owner, an operator, or an exec; where there is a comms or marketing lead, it is often them.

The defining trait is not a title. It is that news, competitors, and industry developments matter to the company, nobody here is paid full time to track them, and the job falls to whoever has the least excuse to skip it.

What you do

Nothing, once it’s set up. No dashboard, no app, no settings page. You get a brief every morning. When you want to adjust coverage, you reply to the email.
